We carry out residential structural survey and commercial survey in Egham. Egham is a town which is situated in Surrey.
In between junction 12 and 13 of the M25 is the town of Egham with Staines to the east and Slough to the north deep in the Surrey commuter belt. The town as well as having good road links has regular trains into Waterloo and Heathrow airport is only 8 miles away. The town in the past was a bustling coaching town with coaching inns popular in the 18 th and 19 th century with people passing through this area.
On the edge of Egham on Egham Hill is the magnificent and elaborate Royal Holloway Founders Building which was built for Thomas Holloway who was a Victorian philanthropist being inspired by the French Renaissance style Chateau de Chambord. This ornate building was a college for women opening in 1886 by Queen Victoria and was designed by W.H. Crossland and is a remarkable building with a central double courtyard. The building is part of London University and in 1985 Royal Holloway and Bedford Colleges amalgamated with the building being known as Royal Holloway College although registered as Royal Holloway and Bedford New College with more modern blocks Founders/Windsor Terrace and Bedford Library and Bourne Lab.
Being on the River Thames makes Egham particularly picturesque with each year Egham Regatta taking place with racing for rowing, skiffing and punting at the end of June.
A statue which is five metres high of King John and Baron Fitzwalter carved in Bath stone can be found in the town centre this commemorates the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215 at Runnymede and is a fine modern sculpture.
The town has over a hundred Listed Buildings including 1624 Almhouses in Strodes College Lane, several coal tax posts, The Coach House in Northcroft Road which dates back to the 18th century with various amendments over the centuries and the Tower Service Station on Egham Bypass which original part dates to 1928-29 with a 1960s extension.
Englefield Green is a very sought after area with many palatial homes and in Egham itself we note when in the area conducting structural building surveys that there are several large detached houses in roads such as Black Lake Close, Thorpe Lea Road, Manorcrofts Road and Green Road.
If you are planning to book a building survey on a property you are purchasing in Egham or the surrounding area then we would like to assure you that we always send a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the job. This ensures that you get expert advice on any issues that we may find with the property we are surveying. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS - and are Independent Surveyors. Being 'independent' means that they are working for you and you alone; they do not work for a mortgage company or an estate agents, so they have your best interests at heart.
All our surveys contain lots of images, clearly showing any problems that we have identified at the property such as woodworm, rising damp or cracking to the walls. We also use sketches in our survey which are aimed at helping you to understand how certain areas are constructed or to help show more clearly a problem that we have identified. You will also find lots of definitions of any building terminology that we may use in our survey, as we firmly believe in 'Plain English' and really want you to fully understand what we are saying in the survey report.
