Information on Fakenham

A favourite destination of our Independent Surveyors to carry out building surveys and home buyer reports is the West Norfolk town of Fakenham. Situated on the A1067 Fakenham is about 25 miles from Norwich, 20 miles from Kings Lynn and only 10 miles from the coast. The town is often referred to as the Gateway to North Norfolk.

Fakenham has been a market town since 1250 and the market still continues to trade every Thursday very close to its original position.

Our Surveyors have often enjoyed visiting the town to carry out Building Surveys and Property Reports. They were impressed by the 16 th century flint cobble buildings where locally made bricks have been used as dressings for windows and around the eaves. The church of St Peter and St Paul dating from the 14th century with its 115 ft tower is also a favourite place to visit.

Fakenham has many other attractions to offer including the National Hunt Racecourse on the outskirts of town, the Pensthorpe Nature Reserve (where the BBC's Spring watch was filmed for 3 years) and also the Museum of Gas and Local History which is to be found in the only gas works of its kind left in England.

While in the town carrying out Residential and Commercial Building Surveys our Surveyors have often sampled the local produce available. Fakenham has nine pubs and restaurants and a wide selection of shops. If you prefer bidding for your goods then there is an antique auction every Thursday in the Cornhall.

Our Surveyors at 1st Associated have seen some substantial properties while in Fakenham and also in neighbouring villages including South Creake, North Creake and Little Snoring.

Building Survey Fakenham Area

If you are planning to book a building survey on a property you are purchasing in the Fakenham Area or the surrounding area then we would like to assure you that we always send a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the job. This ensures that you get expert advice on any issues that we may find with the property we are surveying. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS - and are Independent Building Surveyors. Being 'independent' means that they are working for you and you alone; they do not work for a mortgage company or an estate agents, so they have your best interests at heart.

All our survey contain lots of images, clearly showing any problems that we have identified at the property such as woodworm, rising damp or cracking to the walls. We also use sketches in our survey which are aimed at helping you to understand how certain areas are constructed or to help show more clearly a problem that we have identified. You will also find lots of definitions of any building terminology that we may use in our survey, as we firmly believe in 'Plain English' and really want you to fully understand what we are saying in the survey report.
