We carry out residential structural survey and commercial survey in Wallingford. Wallingford is a town which is situated in Oxfordshire
South of Oxford and north of Reading is the market town of Wallingford in Oxfordshire surrounded by the villages of Preston Crowmarsh, Crowmarsh Gifford, Mongewell, Cholsey and Brightwell-cum-Sotwell on the River Thames.
Wallingford is still a market town with the medieval stalls replaced by a weekly market on Fridays and a Farmer's market once a month there are plenty of antique shops as well as independent shops and national chain stores making it a popular town to visit.
The historic town dates back to the earliest settlers who choose the area due to the river with its rich soils in the Bronze and Iron Ages giving rise to communities farming the land. The Romans were present in the town but it was the Anglo-Saxons with King Alfred naming Wallingford as one of his ‘new towns' as it was the same size as Winchester which was the king's capital and was in a great position being enclosed on three sides by earthen walls, the river on its fourth side and being surrounded by a wet moat which can still be seen today although only its remains in Kinecroft. The towns layout dates back to the 9 th century and is mostly unaffected it has delightful narrow streets, a 17 th century town hall which is set on pillars and Almshouses as well as an unusual spired parish church of St Peter which was rebuilt in 1860 and its fourteen arch bridge over the Thames.
The centre of the town is a major conservation area due to its historic buildings with delightful architecture and the area surrounding the Thames is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty making it a wonderful area to visit to conduct both residential and commercial building surveys.
If you are planning to book a building survey on a property you are purchasing in Wallingford or the surrounding area then we would like to assure you that we always send a suitably qualified and experienced surveyor to carry out the job. This ensures that you get expert advice on any issues that we may find with the property we are surveying. All our surveyors are members of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors - RICS - and are Independent Building Surveyors. Being 'independent' means that they are working for you and you alone; they do not work for a mortgage company or an estate agents, so they have your best interests at heart.
All our survey contain lots of images, clearly showing any problems that we have identified at the property such as woodworm, rising damp or cracking to the walls. We also use sketches in our survey which are aimed at helping you to understand how certain areas are constructed or to help show more clearly a problem that we have identified. You will also find lots of definitions of any building terminology that we may use in our survey, as we firmly believe in 'Plain English' and really want you to fully understand what we are saying in the survey report.
