FIVE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT
BUYING A HOUSE
1.0 Estate agents work for the people selling their houses (vendors) not the people buying the houses (purchasers).
2.0 Caveat Emptor.
The poor house buying law means that the people selling the house have no responsibility; almost what the estate agents want (as the estate agents can and do) to help sell the house.
3.0 Banks work for themselves.
4.0 Most chartered surveyors are owned by banks and mortgage companies, or have reciprocal agreements with them.
5.0 Independent chartered surveyors work for you, i.e. putting the client first.
6.0 Bonus item! Typically people move every 5 to 10 years and a house is the biggest purchase they will make so they need the best independent surveying advice they can get.
